Homework Pass Extension

Happy Monday! Please note that the Valentine's Day homework passes have been extended through Trimester 3. Students are free to use them for any homework assignment (math or spelling) for the rest of the year!

Valentine's Homework Passes

I passed out one homework pass to each kiddo in their Valentine's boxes last week. These can be attached to any one assignment (spelling or math homework) that they choose and it will be counted for full points! These passes are applicable for the second trimester. If I notice that your child hasn't used theirs by the end of this week, I will apply it to any missing assignment that they have!

Our 100th Day is Coming Up!

Hello all! First Grade will be celebrating the 100th day of school on Friday, February 7th. We will be celebrating during school throughout the day within our class. It is tradition for students to dress up like they are 100 years old on this day. I will be sending home a letter outlining this today, but there is a scan of it attached to the title of this post.

First grade is also participating in a community outreach for our 100th day, as well. All four classes will work together to collect and donate 100 items to the Dumb Friends Leave in Castle Rock. If each student sends in one item to donate for the animals, we will be able to hit this goal! The list of recommended items is at the shelter’s website here: https://www.ddfl.org/supplies/

Please send items in by February 7th— they will be donated that weekend :)

Pajama Day Friday

I'm so happy to announce that our class has earned a Pajama Day on Friday! They have all been working so hard on their reading Bingo that enough friends got Bingo, so we earned a special prize. The class voted and choose PJ Day! Please remember to send your child in with shoes that will be appropriate for recess and PE, if they have that special this week.

Welcome Back

I hope you all had a wonderful break! Please make sure that you sign up for a conference slot for next week-- these are important meetings to discuss your child's progress and goals for the rest of the year.

Don't forget that tomorrow is a formal uniform day!

A Few Notes

  • Tomorrow is Free Dress Day! Please follow the WCA Guidelines for this uniform on our school website.
  • We will be having Winter Conferences in January. Please use the next few weeks to decide on the time that works best for you! The Sign Up Genius is here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0c4da5a728a5fb6-winter
  • Friday is a half day, with dismissal at 12:30. If you're attending the party, you are welcome to take your child with you at the end. If they will be staying, please send them with a lunch or snack to eat in the classroom.

Holiday Spirit Week

In my most recent newsletter, I posted that first grade would be having PJ day on Friday. We then got word that the whole school would be having an entire spirit week (yay!). We would like to oblige by the school's spirit days, instead. Please see the schedule for the rest of the week's uniform schedule:

Wednesday: Ugly Sweater

️Thursday: PJ Day

Friday: Free Dress

*Should your student(s) choose not to participate in a certain spirit day, they will wear their regular school uniform.

I can't wait to see everyone on Friday for our party at 9:00!

EPIC! Online Books

In class, we utilize the website EPIC! online to allow students to listen to/ read books online. It's a great resource for reading, especially racking up BINGO reading minutes :) If you'd like to logon at home, select the student login option and type in our class code: nqp3636
