Middle School

WCA is currently a PreK - 7th grade school, and we will be adding 8th grade for the 2018-19 school year! Our Middle School program includes 5th - 8th graders. Fifth grade is a transition year with one foot in elementary and the other in middle school. They follow an elementary model for academic instruction, but are able to choose middle school electives.

Research indicates that by focusing our program with these student groups, we will be able to offer more quality educational programming options at developmentally appropriate levels. Additionally, we offer a true 1:1 tech model of differentiated and individualized learning through the use of Chromebooks for each student in the middle school, using the Google Classroom platform.

This year, the whole southwest wing of our school is set up as a stand-alone, block scheduled, elective based middle school program, with rotating classes and electives. For the 2018-19 school year, 5th - 8th graders will move into the new middle school building, currently under construction. The extra space will allow us to grow our middle school program!

Middle schoolers follow the school dress code, with the exception of the middle school hoodie. This hoodie, designed by the Cougar Committee, may be worn as part of the informal (everyday) uniform. The Cougar Committee is a group of middle school leaders who plan and organize middle school events.
