Teacher Bio

Hola! I am so excited to be your child's Spanish teacher this year! This will be my third year at WCA but my 22nd year teaching overall. I learned my Spanish in school, starting in 7th grade in Jefferson County, CO. I continued through high school and college. I took a 3 week trip to Mexico way back in 1991 to practice my Spanish and learn about Mexican archaeology and history. It was a lot of fun.

I graduated with a B.A. in Spanish from MSCD (now Metropolitan state University) and a minor in Bilingual Education in 1996. I earned a Masters degree from University of Phoenix in Curriculum and Instruction in 2004. I taught in Denver Public Schools in the English Language Acquisition program for 10 years, all at Title 1 schools. My students were native Spanish speakers and I taught their core subjects plus ESL. I taught second and third grade there. Then I moved to Jefferson County Public schools and taught 9 years with their Dual Language program. I taught grades 1-3. In 2015, I took a break from teaching because I moved to Kansas to be with my family.Just a few short  years later I was back in Colorado. I returned to teaching in 2021 when I joined the WCA family!

I have two children, Anastasia (25) and James (18). James graduated this Spring and will be attending Metropolitan State University this Fall. We also have two fur babies, Teddy and Chloe.

I am honored to be a part of the WCA family. I look forward to an incredible year!
