Teacher Bio

My name is Susanna Hartz and this is my second year at World Compass Academy. I started my teaching career in California as a middle school social studies teacher, and have taught in various settings from charter to private school. I left teaching for twelve years and worked in client services in the healthcare field for ten years. I'm delighted to be back teaching middle school, and absolutely love teaching English. I firmly believe that there is little more important in this changing world than communicating well in print and in person. I also love the power of words to move and motivate us. I also love the global connection that WCA strives for, as I grew up in Germany and spent my middle school years in German schools.

I enjoy reading, hiking and walking with people and my dog Gilligan, hanging out with friends, and helping at my church. My husband Nathan and I have lived in Castle Rock almost twenty years, and have three grown children, who attended Rock Canyon High School, and are all in college.
