The middle school student fee will cover the cost of a rent-to-own program for the 1:1 Chromebook issued to students in fifth grade and the Chromebook case used in grades sixth-eighth.
Additional Detail on Grades 5-8 Rent-to-Own Chromebook Program
Students will be issued a new Chromebook in fifth grade (to be stored at school) and will be reissued the same Chromebook each fall through eighth grade. In sixth grade, students are able to take their Chromebook home and will be issued a case to support safe transport of the device. Students who pay the full student fee each year for grades 5-8 will keep their Chromebook and case at the end of eighth grade. Students who leave World Compass Academy prior to their eighth grade year, may purchase their Chromebook and case by buying out the remaining years at $80 per year. There are no refunds issued if students leave World Compass Academy prior to eighth grade.
Students joining the World Compass Academy middle school later than fifth grade will be issued a depreciated Chromebook and case aligned with their grade level.
Devices will be stored at school during the summer months and remain the property of WCA until the conclusion of the eighth grade year, or the device is paid in full, whichever is later.
