Bienvenue à World Compass Academy!

Welcome to my classroom website!

My name is Annie Maurice, and I’m delighted to be teaching Kindergarten and First Grade in the French Immersion program here at World Compass Academy.

I bring 18 years of French teaching experience to our classroom, including deep expertise in primary language immersion. I hold post-baccalaureate teaching credentials from Denver Metropolitan State University in both Elementary Education (K–6) and French (K–12). Born and raised in the province of Quebec, Canada, French is my native language. Having learned English myself in elementary school, I bring first-hand empathy and insight into what it takes to acquire a new language!

After teaching K–5 French immersion in the Denver metro area, I joined WCA in 2015 as a K–8 World Language teacher. Five years ago, WCA transitioned into our K/1st grade French Immersion program.

It's been a true joy to witness our students flourish as they embrace a new language and culture through immersion. 

Outside the classroom, my husband and I love spending time with our three adult children and our four beloved grand-dogs. In my free time, I enjoy staying active through hiking, running, mountain biking, kayaking, and practicing yoga—or simply curling up with a good French novel.
