Hispanic Heritage Celebration
Friday, October 3rd
Performances
Each grade will kick off with a short performance (about 7 minutes) featuring their Spanish students, which may include singing, dancing, or speaking. Families are invited to attend their child’s performance and are welcome to stay and join them as they rotate through the centers. Please enter through the back gym doors and plan to arrive on time; performances will begin promptly at the start of each session so that schedules stay on track.

Dress Code
In honor of the Spanish student performances and out of respect for the cultures being celebrated, all students are required to wear either cultural attire that follows the provided guidelines or their formal uniforms. This expectation applies to all students, regardless of whether they are currently enrolled in Spanish.
Cultural Celebration Days-On language celebration days (Hispanic Heritage, Chinese New Year, Mardi Gras), students may wear either traditional cultural costume reflecting the heritage(s) being celebrated or formal uniform. Examples of traditional cultural costume could include the Hanfu, Cheongsam, or Folkloric dance dress. Jeans, t-shirts, and sweatshirts, even if they include the language of the celebrated culture or are the contemporary clothing of the celebrated culture, will not be considered traditional cultural costumes and are not permitted on cultural celebration days. The goal is to honor and respect the cultures we are studying and learning about thus we increase formality of dress as a sign of respect for these cultures on these celebration days.
We’re so excited to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month together as a school community, and we hope you can join us for this special day of culture, learning, and fun!
