Teacher Bio
Hello, I am Amy Winning and I am honored to be a teacher at World Compass Academy!
I grew up outside Chicago, IL. I attended Bradley University in Peoria, IL, and received my Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education. I also have my Master's in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from the University of Texas at San Antonio. I have 15 years of elementary teaching experience: 10 years in full-day kindergarten and 5 years in second grade. I have also spent time teaching preschool and substitute teaching, including at WCA. I have taught in Illinois, Mississippi, Texas, Missouri, and now Colorado!
My husband was in the Air Force for 20 years, so naturally we moved a lot. We have lived in many states, and now we have wonderful friends scattered all over the world. He retired at the end of 2019, and he is from Littleton, so we decided to settle here in Castle Rock. We absolutely love it here, and we are most excited to put down some roots and stay put.
We have been married for 19 years, and have two boys, who are in seventh and eighth grades at WCA. They have attended WCA since kindergarten and first grade! We also have a beagle named Marshall, with whom we are all obsessed. My hobbies include: baking (gluten-free for me, regular for the family), rooting for the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears, and cheering for my boys at all their sporting events. I am also on a quest to take the boys to see all 30 MLB stadiums. So far we have been to 20!
