Teacher Bio

This will be my first year teaching at World Compass Academy and I could not be more excited! I am a Kansas native, where I graduated from Kansas State University in 2006 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. I have taught Preschool-6th grade in multiple states since graduating. In my spare time I like to read, explore Colorado with my husband (Rob) and daughter (Maddie, 12) and hike. I like to pretend that I can grow any plant, but that is a work in progress.

I am looking forward to getting to know your child, share in their interests, and find what works best for their learning. Your child and I will work together to continue their academic and leadership journey, and build upon their strengths. Students will complete their assignments during class time; this allows the time for students to ask questions, clarify thinking, and work collaboratively in class. The focus of nightly homework will be to build study and responsibility skills, while also giving your family time to enjoy each other and be involved in activities outside of school. My overall goal is to nurture their love of learning and support them as they continue their growth in exploration, risk-taking, and self-advocacy.

Third grade will be a year full of fun, discovery, and learning! Reading will focus on building fluency (rate and accuracy of reading), comprehension strategies, and written responses in a variety of literary and informational texts. We will be using Core Knowledge

I am committed to making sure your child will be cared for and loved. I will continue to put safety first and will nurture community and curiosity in the classroom.

I believe that working together promotes student success. I encourage communication between you, your child, and myself. I would like to partner with you in the education of your child. Every two weeks, I will be updating you on classroom and school happenings, and this communication will be sent via email.
