Biography: A Little About Me!
I am thrilled still be at World Compass Academy. I have been teaching for 21 years. I am a native New Yorker, born and bred on Long Island in Huntington. Back in the dark ages, I graduated from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio with a B.A. in Earth Science, certified to teach. Being part of the baby boomer generation, teaching jobs were few and far between, so I headed to graduate school. Several years later, I received my M.S. in Geology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and was elected to Sigma Xi, the national science honorary. Not wanting to work in Houston or New Orleans, I  headed west to join the corporate world in Denver. I spent 13 years working for Texaco ( before it merged with Chevron)  as an exploration geologist, petroleum landman and oil scout. I really enjoyed all the opportunities I had at Texaco. When Texaco/Chevron closed the Denver office, it was quite fortuitous for me since I was about to have my son, Paul.

I joined the Douglas County School District Long Range Planning Committee and participated for 9 years. I  taught   sixth grade science at Academy Charter School in Castle Rock for 3 years. I was a founder of Woodlands Academy, a small private school, and served as principal and a teacher for 9 years. During this time I got to wear many hats, principal, science teacher, current events and geography teacher, drama director, co-leader of LEGO robotics teams, and assisted in solar and hydrogen fuel cell cars for NREL competitions  and VEX robotics for middle schoolers.

I spent 4 years teaching science at Northstar Academy and substitute teaching. It was finally time for me to go back to teaching my own classes. I missed having my students and the opportunity to really make a difference in their science education. I live with my husband in Larkspur and our son finished a degree in geological engineering at Colorado School of Mines. I love to travel, checking out the geology of course! There is nothing like going for a walk or hike.  I also love the theater, it was great to see "Hamilton" when it came through Denver and I am a season ticket holder!

I love to bring enthusiasm and creativity to science, helping to shape the future scientists of tomorrow and helping them to think "outside the box".
