Bio
I grew up in Hunan Province in central China and moved to Colorado with my family in 1999. I earned a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Colorado Technical University in 2003. While my academic background is in technology, my passion has always been sharing the Chinese language and culture with others. Then I start to teach Mandarin in Saterday or Sunday schools.
I have over 20 years of experience teaching Mandarin in community and cultural programs across Colorado. I taught Mandarin for 7 years at the Colorado Springs Chinese Language School (CSCLS), 8 years at the Joyful Chinese Cultural Center in Denver, and 10 years to date at the DCS Sunday School, located at Rock Canyon High School, where I also supported school operations and contributed articles for promotional events. I am honored to have been recognized multiple times as an Excellent Teacher.
I’m also a mother of three. My daughter Shiyue works at AWS. Ryan is a sophomore at CSU this year, and my youngest son, Evan, is currently an 8th grader at WCA. We have a cat named Keyla and a turtle named Tortilla.
I have been teaching Mandarin at WCA since 2020, and it has been a joyful and fulfilling journey. I truly appreciate WCA’s caring and culturally rich environment, where wonderful students and families come together with shared purpose—to raise a generation that is thoughtful, respectful, and globally minded. Our family went to China, Yunnan, Taiwan, and Northern Europe. I've come to appreciate the importance of "going global," “Go anywhere, Do anything” in life. The experience of travel is far more profound than learning about culture, history, and architecture from books; it allows us to experience cultural differences and learn to respect and understand others. I hope my foreign language classes will be like traveling, can bring new inspiration, perspectives, and experiences to children, allowing them to explore issues from a young age. We will learn through games, stories, crafts, cultural projects, music, and dance. I hope that all students will come to appreciate the beauty of Chinese culture, and that their learning will inspire confidence, open minds, and empower them to achieve their future goals.
Let's go together, Cougars!
